Contactless NFC POS
Business Problem
An eatery used to accept orders through a POS device, and clients could pay by charging in advance prepaid cards issued by the eatery owner. To process an order, the server had to insert the card into an existing cash register, which was time-consuming.
Business Solution
The Service staff would briefly hold a previously issued card up to an Android device and the customer pays at the exit, rather than at the checkout. This saves the service employee time.
Technical Solution
A combination of Spring Boot and an Android app was implemented. Near Field Communication (NFC) cards were chosen for the card system. The purpose was to make sure the system can continue to run properly even when the connection is lost by providing a synchronized storage of the data on the card and the server's database.
